What’s the Big Deal with Texting?
I had no desire to learn how to…
text but my boys thought differently. They insisted they teach me how, So now I know how and I really still don’t get the difference in putting in a bunch of letters and putting in a phone number. They are both instant ways to communicate; the real difference to me is the loss of the human contact.
And if i just want to stop texting I can be rude and just stop. I couldn’t just stop talking on the phone and hang up. You have to say why you have to go and say bye and be polite. Show actual consideration. I do think it’s OK to know how to text and I guess it’s another quick way to communicate.
But I don’t think it should ever take the place of that human voice and contact. We need human contact to really stay connected to each other. It’s like the old song that says “People who need peole are the happiest people in the world.”
So let’s not forget with all of the technology and gadgets (which are good to have) that we still need to have human communication as our main form of contact. Don’t let the new gadgets replace that physical closeness and contact.
